News: KCOHL NEWS UPDATE / AUGUST
Posted by Scott Smiley, Posted: 3 days ago

Hi Fellas, hope you all are having a good summer and staying safe out there. Well by now the online registration would have been active for a couple months and we would be advertising for Players Bench sign ups later this month. Unfortunately at this time I have no solid info on what the upcoming season may or may not hold for us. I have heard a few rumors about what hockey may look like for B.C. this season and none of which cater to the KCOHL and how we like to enjoy hockey. I am hoping to get some solid info from the City in the upcoming month and will be sure to keep you informed as I know more. Please continue to hang on to those jersey's until an appropriate time that we can collect them in a safe and orderly manner.

We are due to hold our annual AGM for the 2019/2020 season and hopefully discuss a possible start to a 2020/2021 season. We will announce a time and place shortly with plenty of notice and with all social distancing measures in place.

If you are like me, you are getting frustrated and fed up with what Covid-19 has done to our way of life. Things look like they may take a bit longer than we thought to get through this but it is imperative that we support the Provincial and Municipal guidelines. They are in place to keep us all safe and healthy and so far have been doing an outstanding job! I will start reaching out to the City this week and see if there are any plans in place for rec hockey this fall.

Thanks for your patience and support!!

News: KCOHL NEWS UPDATE / MAY
Posted by Scott Smiley, Posted: Tue May 5, 2020

Hello everyone! Hope you are all staying safe and healthy out there. As we draw closer to what would have been our annual charity golf tournament on May 23, I unfortunately must announce that it has been cancelled for this year. I'm sure this is no surprise to most of you, but our focus right now is to adhere to the social distancing measures that are in place, and a golf tournament of this magnitude would contradict everything we are working so hard to achieve. We must make these sacrifices now so that we can hopefully be back on the ice this fall. Obviously I will keep everyone up to date as we get closer. Lastly, I know most of you still have jersey's in your possession, but hang on to them for now and I will find a way to get them back in a safe and timely manner over the course of this summer.

As in the words of our own Dr. Bonnie Henry, "This is not forever, this is just for now. Lets all be kind, be calm and stay safe. Thank you for doing your part."

News: ARENA CLOSURES DUE TO COVID-19 OUTBREAK
Posted by Scott Smiley, Posted: Mon Mar 16, 2020

Hello Fellas! In case you have not heard already, the City has closed all arenas due to the Covid-19 threat until further notice. This will mean the last regular season game, and year end tournament are now cancelled. Obviously the health and safety of the community is top priority, and I understand the City's decision at this time as Canada and the World aggressively try and stop the spread. I will keep you updated regarding the status of the golf tournament in May as we draw nearer. Please hang on to all Jerseys and socks for now until this is over, and i will ask for your help in making sure we get them all back in time for next season. I apologize having to deliver this unfortunate news and only hope you and your families stay healthy during this crazy time.
